This week I was finally well enough to get back into running. I was able to join my running group for a Saturday morning run for the first time in weeks. I'm toying with the idea of doing a half-marathon in the spring.
This afternoon we bought a mini-van. I'm so excited – I've wanted one forever. I'll post pictures and details later this week.
This was another slow reading week. The only book I finished was The Vampire Diaries: The Fury and Dark Reunion by L.J. Smith. I also started rereading Twilight. I hope to finish it and then reread New Moon before going to see the New Moon movie on Friday.

The Fury and Dark Reunion by L.J. Smith
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This book contained the third and fourth installments of the Vampire Diaries series. If they were two separate books, I would give the third book four stars and the fourth book two and a half stars. There was a major continuity glitch in the fourth book that I could not get over. A character that was said to be killed in The Fury was not dead in Dark Reunion and there was no explanation as to how this was possible. I was also very disappointed with the ending of Dark Reunion – to me it didn't jibe with the overall mythology of the series.

This week was pretty uneventful because I was laid up with bronchitis for most of it. Luckily, my super-duper friends Sarah and Katie took the boys for me in the mornings so I could get some rest. Thanks girls!
I did manage to get a little reading done:
Plan B by Jonathan Tropper
The Consciousness Revolution by Ervin Lazlo – this is the book that my Sunday school class has been studying for the past few months.
I'm still working on The Audacity of Hope; it took too much brain power to read it while I was sick. Hopefully I'll finish it up next week.
I entered the give-away on Booking Mama for a copy of Shelf Discovery and I won! I'm excited – I love free books and this one should be really good.

A few weeks ago my stay-at-home moms group had an outing at a bowling alley. I was sick with strep throat so Travis was nice enough to sub for me and take the boys. They had a great time.

Which do you prefer? Biographies written about someone? Or Autobiographies written by the actual person (and/or ghost-writer)?
Most of the time I prefer biographies written by the actual person – I just assume they are more accurate and truthful, especially if it's someone in the entertainment industry.
Plan B by Jonathan Tropper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book had a strong St. Elmo's Fire vibe to it (which is one of my favorite movies). It's about a group of close college friends, dealing with growing up and growing apart now that college is over. They are all thirty or about to turn thirty and are very angsty about it. At times I was rolling my eyes thinking, "Give me a break – thirty is not THAT big of a deal." But overall I liked all the characters and the relationships between them.
