Christmas Morning
Here we are at 6:30am. *yawn*
The dollhouse that Santa gave Cash was a big hit:
West loved the underpants that Santa left in his stocking. As soon as he pulled them out he gasped, "Are these for ME?" He put them on immediately and wore them (and only them) for the next
couple of days. He actually did a pretty good job of keeping them dry.
Then after about three days, the novelty was gone and he started having
several accidents and Mommy started to go slightly crazy. He went back
to diapers so we could enjoy the rest of Christmas vacation.

While waiting for a table at Smokehouse BBQ tonight, Cash noticed an oil painting of some pigs on a farm hanging on the wall. "Why is that painting like that?" he asked Travis. "Like what?" Travis replied. "Like that," Cash answered.
"Like what Cash?" Travis asked, confused about what Cash meant.
"Why is it like that?"
"You mean why is it a painting?"
"No, why is it like THAT?" Cash said, getting frustrated that he wasn't being understood.
"Do you mean why is it fuzzy?" I asked, thinking he was confused by the texture of the oil paint.
"No, why is it like THAT?"
"Do you mean why is it hanging on the wall?"
"No, why is it like THAT?"
"I'm sorry Cash, we don't know what you mean."
"I mean WHY.IS.IT.UGLY?"
Travis was so proud – it WAS an ugly painting.
Christmas Spirit
Our furnace broke last night right before dinner. Luckily, we have a service plan and someone could come within the hour to fix it. Who doesn't love to spend an unexpected $650 right before Christmas on something as fun as furnace repair? Anyway, West followed the service man around the whole time, awed that one person could have so many tools. While he was writing up our bill, West gave him a Hershey's kiss (I don't think his gesture got us a price break unfortunately) and then when he left, West sobbed his little eyes out crying, "I didn't get to give him a hug and kiss. I wanted to give him a hug and kiss goodbye." Sorry, little fella – next time we'll know.
Christmas Program
Cash and West had their preschool Christmas program Thursday night. Cash's class (and Cash) did really well. They all sang and did the actions pretty much in sync:
The two-year-olds were a little less focused:
None of the grandparents could come because of the ice storm that night so I'm going to post a few more pictures for them:
Obnoxiousness By Osmosis?
At lunch today, Cash launched in to the "Batman Smells" version of Jingle Bells. How does a four-year old know this version of the song? Travis and I certainly don't sing this version. I asked him who taught him this song and he said, "I got it at the Jingle Bell store where they have all kinds of Jingle Bell songs. This is the party Jingle Bell song."
Christmas Photoshoot Outtakes
This is what West did after the photographer told him to put his hands down:

Who would've thought that some day these two crazy kids would have two crazy kids of their own? (photo December 1996)
***Sorry, it was 1996, not 2006. The boys haven't aged us THAT fast, although some days I wonder.***
OKAY
Tonight's dinner conversation over Papa John's pizza and breadsticks:
Cash: "What are those?"
Me: "Those are dipping sauces for the breadsticks."
"I'm not dipping my breadsticks in those."
"Okay, you don't have to."
"I don't like those sauces."
"Okay."
"So I'm not going to dip my breadsticks in them."
"Okay."
"I only like normal sauces."
"Okay."
"And those aren't normal sauces."
"Okay."
"So I'm not dipping my breadsticks in them."
"Okay."
