I walked in the 2nd annual walk to support the Food Allergy and Anaphlylaxis Network this afternoon. This organization has been invaluable to my family as a source for information and support regarding Cash's life-threatening peanut allergy. If you'd like to donate, it's not too late. Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated – some day we will find a cure for food allergy!
We went to the pumpkin patch last Saturday. The boys had a blast. We actually went out to the "you pick" section of the patch for the first time. Cash had his pumpkin picked out in approximately one second. West took FOREVER. He'd go up to a pumpkin and say, "I want this one," while carefully looking it over. Just as I got ready to pick it up, he'd change his mind, "No, I don't want this one," and move on to inspect another one. Who knew he was so particular about his pumpkin?

Not only am I almost a week late in posting about Travis's birthday (it was last Saturday), but I had to create a "Travis" category for this entry. Apparently I haven't had the need for a "Travis" category in the six months I've had this blog. Poor Travis. Anyway, Cash gave him a plate that he made all by himself at one of those do-it-yourself pottery places. The only thing I did was write his name and the year on it:
My brother Nicholas showed up for Travis's birthday dinner wearing the same shirt that Travis was wearing. It was simply adorable.
Cash and I cleaned the refrigerator this afternoon while West was napping. Cash was actually a really big help – he took everything out of the door while I was scrubbing the inside. He thought we should chop the door off with an ax but I talked him out of it. It was dirty but not THAT dirty. Now it's sparkling clean. Cleaning the refrigerator is my favorite chore because it actually STAYS clean for a while, unlike everything else around here. After I clean it, I can't help going back into the kitchen several times to admire my work. Yep, I'm a freak.
It took several tries to get the photo of West that showcases his new snaggletooth smile that I posted the other day. At one point during the photo-shoot, West told me I needed to get a different camera. Yeah, because it's the CAMERA that's keeping us from getting the photo.
Travis took Cash and West to the playground this morning and West came home with A CHIPPED FRONT TOOTH. Travis is no longer allowed to come within 50 feet of the boys unless the boys are wearing mouth guards. Apparently West was climbing on the jungle gym and lost his balance and fell and hit his tooth on one of the metal bars. Whatever.
Cash and West had their school pictures taken last week. Normally when I take the boys for professional pictures, Cash does great and West is horrible because he won't sit still long enough to get a picture. This time West turned into a little model:
And Cash was a trainwreck! In this age of digital photography, how can a photographer look at these three photos and think, "Got it!" Seriously, it is not hard to get Cash to look NORMAL and smile.
Cash wanted me to tie this bow in his hair before we left for Walmart so he could look just like Minnie Mouse.
Oddly, no one there mistook him for Minnie.
Cash told me today that I was "driving him pancakes."
