Friday Morning Weigh-In

I finally bit the bullet and went back to Weight Watchers to weigh in, fully expecting to take my lumps. I almost fell over when I saw that I lost 0.8 of a pound. Not very much considering I haven’t weighed in a month but I’ll take it over a gain any day. That brings my total loss to nine pounds. Only seven more to go!

Whatchu Talkin’ Bout West?

West is a very verbal child. Everyone tells me that the second child is usually a late talker because the older sibling does all the talking for him. I think West knew from day one that he was on his own. Cash is not the most helpful big brother. Cash was a late talker and I’ve never been around any other early talkers so I am constantly amazed at the things that come out of West’s mouth. He has recently started asking “why” questions, no doubt because he hears Cash ask “why” at least a THOUSAND times a day. Yesterday, the boys and I picked Travis up from work and after Travis put his computer bag in the trunk West said his longest sentence to date, “Why did you put your work bag in the trunk?” A ten-word sentence with pronouns and a preposition and he just turned two! I’m staying off the phone for the next few days – I’m sure Harvard will be calling once this gets out.

You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Gray

When Cash and I were playing Jack-In-the-Box this morning (he’s Jack and hides behind a chair and I’m Jack’s mom or wife depending what Jack decides; I turn Jack’s crank and he pops up from behind the chair) he kept referring to me as “dear”. Like, “Look West just fell down dear. What’s wrong with him dear?” I asked him why he was calling me dear and he said, “Because you’re my sunshine.” I just melted into a puddle. I gave him a hug and told him that was a really nice thing to say to Mommy. To which he replied, “Aw shucks Mommy.”

Too Zen to Weigh-In

I didn’t make it to Weight Watchers this morning. I went to a yoga class with my friend CW instead. I went to my first yoga class in over ten years on Wednesday night at Shine spa. It was free because they’re trying to build up interest and they are having another free class there this Wednesday, the 9th. It’s for beginners so check it out. Anyway, I LOVE yoga. I didn’t really how tense I am until after the first class when I felt totally relaxed. I’m definitely going to try to make yoga part of my exercise routine. I’ll still want to do cardio and weights to keep losing weight; I’m still having trouble getting more than one day a week of that in. If I had weighed in today, I would guess that I’ve gained at least a pound. We’ve had a lot of celebrations the past few weeks and I struggle with pigging out in the name of “celebration”.

As your reward for reading a long, boring post about me, here are some pictures of the boys eating watermelon yesterday. Happy Independence Day!

Chaos Suspended

The boys are actually starting to play together for longer and longer periods without trying to kill each other. Sometimes West will throw his arms around Cash and say, “I wike (like) him. I wike Bash.” (He pronounces Cash “Bash” which is appropriate considering how many times Cash has bashed him in the head with various toys.) Here they are playing with the doll stroller that Travis and I gave West for his birthday.

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy

West turned two years old yesterday. I can hardly believe it; this has been the fastest two years of my life. We celebrated with an Elmo themed party at AirZone. West had a great time and even worked up the courage to go down the big slide by the end.

Fire In The Hole

After eating dried cherries this morning, Cash told me that they made him cough. "They do?" I asked. "Yes, and they make fire in my firebox too." Cash replied. I asked Cash where his firebox was, thinking he meant his throat. "Right here," he said, pointing to his bumhole. I didn't even WANT to ask where he came up with that one.

Not Quite Right

Cash picks up little phrases from here and there, mostly from his TV shows I think, and he likes to try and use them in everyday conversation. At the library today the car next to us in the parking lot had a stuffed bunny hanging from the rear-view mirror. Cash asked me why and I said it was just decoration. He replied earnestly, "Tell me the true Mommy, what's it for?" Um, I'm pretty sure it's just decoration. I don't usually lie about stuffed bunnies.

Another favorite phrase of his is "whatever you do" also said with great earnest. As in, "Whatever you do Mommy, get me a snack." or "Whatever you do Mommy, come help me with my trucks." Things are very dramatic around here these days.

Pure Joy

We went to Worlds of Fun yesterday. We have season passes this year; we've been three times and the boys just love it. IMG_1015
Cash went on this ride in Camp Snoopy that takes you up real high and then brings you down in spurts and bounces you at the end of each spurt. He was laughing so hard while he was on it. It made me smile just watching him.

Happy Father’s Day

The Father's Day photo shoot went a lot better than the Mother's Day photo shoot. It only took two attempts to get a half-way decent one!
