I was down 2 pounds at my weigh-in this morning for a grand total of an 8.2 pound loss. I'm over halfway there – only 7.8 pounds to go! And I haven't even managed to get my butt out of bed to exercise more than once a week. Ideally I'd like to get at least three days in. I'll have to work on that soon. My bed is just soooooooo comfortable……

Whenever someone around here is really hungry, we say they're "starvin' Marvin". Walking through the cold grocery store this morning, Cash said he was "freezing Marvin".
The boys and I were playing in the backyard this afternoon when West grabbed my water cup and started shaking it, spilling water on the patio. Cash wanted to know why I took it away from West and wanted to dump out the rest of the water. I told him that I wanted the water to drink and I didn't want to get the patio all wet. He thought for a moment and then said, "Well, we could spill the water and then get in an airplane and catch the sun and bring it back and then it would melt all the water away." Oh, well then by all means, spill the water.
Cash's T-Ball ended a couple of weeks ago. Here he is getting his medal after his last game. He is so proud of that medal – he still gets it out and wears it around the house. West loves to wear it too, even though he didn't do anything at T-ball but eat goldfish and try to storm the field in the middle of the games. Next month Cash starts Bitty Basketball. Should be entertaining!

I weighed in this morning, after a two-week vacation from Weight Watchers. I gained 0.2 pounds, which was actually a relief. I expected to gain a lot more since I really went off plan while we were on our "Kansas City vacation." and then I went to Little Rock to see my brother Andy do the cha-cha in a ballroom dance showcase. That was fabulous by the way. I'd never seen Andy dance before and I was blown away.
Anyway, I'm back on plan now so I know next week will be better.

Cash, worried: "Mommy, my penis is cracking."
Me, skeptical: "Are you sure?"
Cash: "Yes, look it's turning black right there."
Me: "Sweetie, that's a blood vessel."
Cash, relieved and excited: "My penis has blood vessels?! Does my bottom have blood vessels too?"
Me, sighing: "Yes, sweetie. Yes it does."
This afternoon West woke up from his nap in a good mood and was chatting so pleasantly to himself that I waited a few minutes before going up to get him. When I went upstairs to retrieve him from his crib, he greeted me in the hallway. This means he climbed out of his crib and opened his bedroom door. Lord.Help.Us.
I crossed my fingers and hoped this was a fluke. That he had not learned how to climb effortlessly out of his crib without making so much as a thud when he landed. But no, soon after Travis laid him down tonight, we heard his little voice upstairs, coming closer and closer. I went up to put him back in bed and he burst into tears. I don't think he was upset that he had to get back in bed. I think he truly expected praise and congratulations on his magnificent accomplishment and he was crushed when he didn't get it. Poor little guy. Stay in your bed!

Upon approaching a green light on the way to Sam's Club this morning I hear, "Dude, we're coming up on a green light," from the backseat. "What did you say Cash?" Surely I heard wrong, my almost four-year old does not say "dude". "I said, Dude, we're coming up on a green light Mommy." I ask Cash who he knows that says dude. "I say it Mommy." Fair enough. "Where did you get the word dude from Cash?" "From my imagination Mommy!" Okay dude.
It finally happened – Cash's pacifier bit the dust tonight.* It already had a little hole in the nipple and just before bedtime tonight, Cash stuck his finger in it and it ripped wide open. I became aware that something was up when I heard heart-wrenching sobs coming from Cash's bedroom. I went upstairs and Travis told me what had happened. I took Cash in my arms and reminded him that we had told him a few weeks ago this was the last pacifier. When it was worn out we were done. He was so pathetic, talking in a soft voice, trying to hold back the tears. I told him he could have an extra bedtime story tonight and that if he made it through the night, we would have chocolate-chip cookies for breakfast tomorrow morning. That seemed to make him feel better. When I tucked him in, I put all his stuffed animals close around him so he would feel like he wasn't alone. He sleeps with a small army – bunny-bear (a bear in a bunny suit), two dinosaurs, a teddy bear, a bunny and a duckie. Hopefully, this will all be harder on me than it is on him.
*Yes, I realize that Cash is way too old to still take a pacifier but as a former thumb-sucker myself I couldn't bear to take it away from him. I'm convinced that my grandparents slapping my hands whenever I put my thumb in my mouth as a child is what caused me to become a smoker later in life. I don't smoke any more though. Stop judging me!
