I didn't weigh in this morning because Travis and I spent last night and today at a bed and breakfast. His mom and sister gave us a gift certificate for Christmas and they also offered to babysit whenever we went. We had great time and the boys had a blast with Grandma and Aunt Jenny. I'll have to find time later this week to weigh-in.
Today I was singing along to the boys Funky Mama CD and Cash told me to stop. This lead to a lengthy discussion on what "hurting someone's feelings" means. Cash initially thought I said he hurt my FEELERS. He was very excited that Mommy had feelers just like bees do and wanted to see them. After I convinced him that I do not have antennae and he understood (sort of) what hurting someone's feelings meant he said, "When cars are sad their tires go flat." I suppose they probably do sweetie.
West loves to steal my Diet Coke when I’m not looking and suck it down as fast as he can. Now he’s decided that if my Diet Coke is so yummy that the Frappuccinos I drink must be delicious too. I brought one home the other day and he was beside himself trying to get it off the kitchen counter. First he drug a kitchen chair over and climbed up to try and reach the Frappuccino. I put the kitchen chair in the living room since he can’t drag them over the carpet. We then repeated the cycle with the remaining three kitchen chairs. With all four kitchen chairs now in the living room, I thought my Frappuccino was safe. Oh no, he’s not giving up that easily. He opened the bathroom door and got the step stool out. I put the step stool on top of the refrigerator. Then he went and got this huge bubble wand that’s at least two feet long and used it to hook the Frappuccino and drag it over to the edge of the counter. I finally gave up and just threw the Frappuccino in the trash! Some things are not worth the hassle.
Today I brought home a Mocha Frappuccino, knowing that West would probably go nuts trying to get it. I had the bright idea that if I gave him a taste of it, he would taste the bitter coffeeness of it, hate it and then stop trying to steal them. Uh, no – that’s not how it worked. He sucked it down and I had to grab it away from him before he drank it all. The last thing I need is West hopped up on caffeine so he’s MORE active. So now he love Diet Coke AND coffee. How can I get my daily caffeine fix without being stalked by my baby?
I was down 1.2 pounds this morning for a grand total of 6.4 pounds so far. Slow and steady wins the race! I was happy to lose anything this week because I pigged out all last weekend using Mother’s Day as my excuse. Less than 10 pounds to go!
A few months ago Travis inadvertently taught Cash the F-word. I’ve told that story to almost everyone I know but I’ll retell it now just in case you haven’t heard it:
I come downstairs after Travis leaves for work and Cash says, "Mommy, West spilled the syrup." "He did?" I ask, "Did Daddy clean it up?"
"Yes," Cash replied, "And Daddy said f*ck."
"He did?" I say, trying not to smile.
"Yes, Daddy said f*ck like this: f**************ck." The last part is said in a long, drawn out whisper.
So ever since then, Cash has used the f-word occasionally here and there. (Thanks Daddy.) Usually I just try to ignore him. Today I decided to talk to him about it. Before his nap, I was reading Where the Wild Things Are to him. When I got to the part when Max is sent to bed without any supper, Cash said, "Fock!" (That’s how he pronounces it now for some reason. I still don’t want him saying it, even in a faux British accent.) I told him that we shouldn’t use that word because it was a naughty word. "Let’s say shucks instead!" I suggest. "But Mommy, shucks isn’t a spooky word. Fock is a spooky word." Cash insists. I try again to explain that even if it’s a spooky word, it still isn’t nice to say.
"Can I say peanuts?" Cash asks.
"Sure!"
"What about eggs? Or pickles?"
"Sure! Those are all great words."
"How about this new word – fock?"
"No Cash, remember we talked about that word. It isn’t nice."
"How about if I say it quietly, like this – foooooooooock?"
"How about if we just finish the story Cash?"
I think I’ll go back to ignoring him for now.
My mom came to visit us on Sunday and Cash was so excited to see her that he was very hyper and getting himself into trouble because he could not calm down. I took him aside and said, "Cash, you need to settle down. Grandma wants to play with a nice sweet boy." He looked me dead in the eye and said, "Well there are only naughty boys here today." Better luck next time Grandma!
My friends and I have a tradition that we all take photos of ourselves and our kids on Mother’s Day and then share them with each other. Another part of the tradition is that everyone else gets great photos and my kids act like maniacs (the photo in the upper right corner of my blog is from last year’s photo shoot) and I get photos like these:
They were both really tired and West has a fever and a sore throat. They were not excited about getting their picture taken with Mommy.
Please stop torturing us Mommy!

Well, looks like Mommy’s not going to let us up until we settle down.
Cash decides it’s taking so long he’ll just take a little nap.

Mommy starts saying "Cheeeeeeeese" which makes the boys happy but makes Mommy look psychotic.
Cash give West the Vulcan death grip.

Mommy kisses the Vulcan death grip spot and makes it better.
I think this one’s a winner – whew!
All right guys, let’s quit while we’re ahead.
This morning’s weigh-in was pretty uneventful. I weighed exactly what I did last Saturday – no gain or loss. I’m counting that as a victory because last weekend at the NSD crop I totally pigged out. I ate my weight in peanut MnMs plus had Mexican for dinner and biscuits and gravy for breakfast. My friends have always told me that everything you eat while scrapbooking is calorie-free but I’m starting to think that may not be true.
