Egg-ceptional News!

West saw his allergist today for an oral challenge with eggs. This means he ate eggs in the doctor’s office and then we had to stay for about an hour to see if he had an allergic reaction.

HE PASSED THE CHALLENGE!!! He has outgrown his egg allergy. I’m so happy! Now he can eat fresh and frozen pasta, French toast, regular baked goods, popcorn shrimp and of course eggs.

It’s a good thing because he and Cash both LOVE eggs. I wasn’t sure how much egg to bring so I scrambled six eggs just to be on the safe side. I knew Cash would probably eat some too while we were there. Between the two of them, they ate ALL the scrambled egg I brought. They are little piggies when they want to be.

Happy Birthday to Me!

I weighed in at Weight Watchers this morning and I’ve lost 2.6 pounds! This is really good considering I didn’t start following the program until Monday and I had an unfortunately cake incident on Wednesday. Three and a half hour church Board meetings will make you take desperate measures – that’s all I’m saying about that.

The Michael Jordan of Babies

West sticks his tongue out when he’s concentrating really hard on something. Here he’s trying to put anXti__0055 attachment on my vacuum cleaner.
He LOVES to vacuum with the real vacuum TURNED ON. He has no fear. He will spill his snack cup on purpose and then come and get me and tell me we need to vacuum up the spill. Or just point out crumbs on the kitchen floor – not hard to find – and tell me we need to vacuum them up. Luckily I can usually distract him. If I vacuumed every time he wanted me to, I might actually have a clean house!

Like Father, Like Son

Cash drew this picture last Friday:

It’s the first picture he’s drawn that wasn’t just scribbles. Here’s the artist hard at work:

It’s all about me….

The boys have both been sick for a few days – Cash has a fever and rash and West has the runniest nose ever. Frankly, they’re not very funny or cute when they’re sick so I’m making today’s entry all about me.

I rejoined Weight Watchers this past Saturday. My goal is to lose 16 pounds. I lost 7 pounds the first time I did Weight Watchers but that’s when I was nursing West and the weight loss made my milk supply decrease so I dropped out. This Christmas was my first Christmas since 2002 that I was not either pregnant or nursing; but I went ahead and ate like I was anyway. Those 7 pounds came back with a vengeance! Unfortunately, I tend to gain most of my weight in my gut and after the THIRD person asked me if I was expecting I decided something needed to be done. I realize this post hasn’t been very funny either but my point is accountability. If I know that I have to come back to this blog and admit that I didn’t lose any weight because I ate half a package of Oreos, then I might think twice before eating the Oreos in the first place. Wish me luck – I weigh in Saturday morning.

The Obsession Begins…..

This morning West took off his pajamas and diaper so he could run around naked – one of his favorite activities. After a few minutes, he stopped with his legs in a wide stance and bent his head way over, so it was almost between his legs. He looked up at me and asked, "Penis?" I confirmed that yes, that was indeed his penis.
"Take it off?" he asked.
"No, it stays on," I informed him.
"Eat it?" he asked.
"No, we don’t eat it," I told him.
"Yucky?" he asked.
"Yes, that would be yucky."

Mommy Needs a Rest

During lunch today Cash would not stop getting out of his seat. Finally I said, "Cash, I’m getting tired of telling you to get back in your seat." To which Cash responded very sincerely, "Do you need to rest and take a little nap so you won’t be tired from trying to get me to listen?" Well sweetie, I could do that OR you could just start listening to me!

The Poop Talk Will Be Minimal

Before I had kids, my friends with kids would tell me stories involving their kid’s poop and I would think, "Why are you subjecting me to this disgusting story? Do you really think I give a sh*t (pun intended) about your kid’s poop? Ugh." I vowed that when I had children of my own, I would never subject innocent bystanders to boring poop stories. Of course the instant Cash was born I renounced my vow and started telling tons of boring poop stories of my own. And I must admit, I now find other parents poop stories funny and/or interesting sometimes.

I’ll try to keep the poop stories to a minimum on this blog, but I just had mention one thing:  Cash pooped on the potty at preschool today!! This is huge – he has been potty trained since November and didn’t ever even pee on the potty at school until a couple of weeks ago. I never thought he would be able to poop at school. Okay, that’s all – thanks for indulging me. Oh, wait….one more story while we’re on the poop track: Today Cash asked me if I thought West’s diarrhea was beautiful. Ugh. Okay, seriously that’s all. For a while at least.

Chaos Suspended: Story Time

Every once and a while the boys act like they love each other. Those are the best times.

Scenes from a Mexican Restaurant

We went to Jose Peppers for dinner tonight. As our Black server (he had a foreign accent so I’m not sure if he was African American) turned to leave after taking our order, Cash yelled out, "Hey mom, was he a little black guy?" For what it’s worth, the poor guy was at least six feet tall. I guess every guy looks little compared to Daddy. As I prayed to the universe to swallow our table up and save me from my tactless child, a male server who was no more than five feet tall walked by. Cash yelled out, "Hey mom, look at that little server!" Oh universe, why has thou forsaken me?

What do you do when you are an impeccably neat child and you don’t want to risk dripping melted ice cream on your shirt?

Why, you drink your ice cream with a straw of course!
